A thoughtful space for reflecting on clinical work
I offer clinical supervision to psychotherapists and other mental-health professionals whose work falls within my areas of experience.
Supervision provides a thoughtful and appropriately confidential space in which to consider clinical work, therapeutic relationships and the emotional impact of working with children, young people, adults and families.
My approach
My approach is informed by psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thinking. It pays particular attention to relationships, unconscious communication and the feelings that may be evoked in both the practitioner and the wider professional network.
Depending on the work being discussed, supervision may include consideration of:
- the meaning behind behaviour and emotional distress
- therapeutic relationships and processes
- transference and countertransference
- work with parents, carers and professional networks
- trauma and complex presentations
- professional boundaries and ethical questions
- safeguarding and risk
- the effect of clinical work on the practitioner
- organisational and team dynamics
Areas of particular experience
I have particular experience of supervising work involving:
- looked-after and care-experienced children and young people
- adolescents and young adults
- complex and developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and the effects of early adversity
- children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- parents, carers, families and the wider professional networks supporting children with complex needs
These areas can be explored within supervision where they are relevant to the supervisee’s role, professional responsibilities and scope of practice.
Experience
I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with more than 20 years’ experience. My background includes work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, private practice and multidisciplinary professional networks.
I have also contributed to professional training and continue to provide supervision and reflective support to practitioners working with children, young people and families.
Practical arrangements
Supervision can take place in person at my consulting room in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, or online. The frequency and focus of meetings can be agreed according to your role, level of experience and professional requirements.
